Understanding The Covert War On The American People
Part 2 – The Post-American Machine Faces Strong Headwinds
(Part One of Understanding The Covert War On The American People can be found here)
Many servants of the machine have shown their concern and confusion over the new, emboldened 118th Congress. In this session, the U.S. House of Representatives established the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. It did so to investigate alleged official censorship, election interference and scores of civil rights violations, many of which began after the inauguration of President Biden.
In just a few months, the committee’s extraordinarily methodical investigations have uncovered what appears to be a criminal network operating inside the Executive Branch of the U.S. government. The discovery is historic in its implications and is of far greater importance to American democracy than the past scandals of Watergate and the Teapot Dome scandal.
It has become clear that certain individuals in leadership positions have suborned their agencies into bending and breaking rules, and selectively enforcing laws to advance political and financial objectives. Now it appears that some in leadership may have also committed felonies as part of an ongoing cover-up.
The machine appears to have been thrown back on its heels by waves of revelations of official malfeasance that have broken through news story embargoes. This leader of the Executive branch is no longer merely a necessary embarrassment. He has revealed himself to be so gross to the sentiments of many Americans that he now represents a risk to the greater project and to the machine itself.
It is telling that the media has made a perceptible change in how it its reports on the administration. Typically obsequious media reporters, previously given to merely promulgating White House press releases, have been asking uncharacteristically incisive questions. Official explanations have been weak, unhelpful and dismissive, if explanations are made at all. It may be that the machine’s media felt itself caught between the political need for its silence and the rise of trusted and forthcoming independent media sources. In this business, information and credibility are everything.
Now, with both Congress and the media “prying”, confusion reigns as the machine tries to divine the best way to preserve its project. All arrows point to the replacement of the current administration, but the machine is an a difficult position. Circumstances are changing too quickly for the ponderous entity to settle on a plan forward. Without due care and attention, it risks being overwhelmed and misdirected by the increasingly fluid political reality. If it moves too slowly, it may be overtaken by the zeitgeist. If it moves too quickly, it will awaken and embolden more to resist it.
Though the project’s policy wonks may want to avoid “getting lost in details”, it is now the details that will determine the great trajectory – and the details are neither few nor minor. Federal government whistleblowers from different agencies having been stepping forward to expose the details of official malfeasance to an attentive congress, and with each whistleblower the political sands shift. Their allegations have been as damning as they are courageous. Indeed, the whistleblowers are paying a price for their integrity - which only adds to the egregiousness of the current state. The machine’s attacks on them are a serious miscalculation, however, as it is part of American culture to root for the earnest underdog.
Brave Americans Step Forward
In one case, a 12-year veteran of the FBI came forward to say that the Washington, D.C. field office had repeatedly broken protocol in ways intended to make “right-wing domestic violence” appear to be a widespread national problem. (This imperative revealed itself with the administration’s public adoption of political tactics espoused by radical Marxist theorists. The notion of “systemic racism by whites” in America has been broadened by it to include conservative Americans who are dissenters of any of the administration’s novel social policies.)
In an interview, FBI Agent Steve Friend said
“We were told that [a person of interest] was going to be going to a school board meeting that was expected to be kind of rowdy. There was some pornographic material that was discovered in the school library so a lot of parents were going to it. It was sort of clear to me at that point that there was an attempt to marry January 6 domestic terrorism to school boards. We wound up going to the parking lot and watching this guy, and we were attempting to document anybody who he was meeting with to get their license plates.”
As a 12-year veteran, Friend was in position to see that the FBI’s culture change. He reported to Congress that raids had taken place that were wildly abusive and in clear violation of the FBI’s own established policy.
It was such a raid that cost him his career. He spoke to his supervisor about having been assigned to a problematic raid. He was cautioned that it would be better for him to “call in sick” rather than voice his concern about it. He neither called in sick nor participated in the raid. In response, he was declared “away without leave”, stripped of his gun and badge, and then escorted out of his FBI field office in Daytona Beach, Florida. Up until this incident, Friend had received awards and other recognition for the excellent performance of his duties.
Today, Friend watches the House investigations and comments when his former boss, FBI Director Christopher Wray, testifies erroneously.
Friend’s story is just one example of how some in FBI leadership use their agents to corruptly increase the scope and count of the investigations. Other whistleblowers have step forward with similar stories of abusive FBI leadership. His experience with retaliation is also shared by other whistleblowers who had also come forward on similar policy violations. They likewise felt a moral obligation to seek whistleblower status even at the risk of being badly mistreated. Others left the agency with the intention of warning the public about the agency’s leadership malfeasance.
A final thought about the integrity of the whistleblowers. Friend could have lied and called in sick, and thus easily (though falsely) assuaged his conscience. He didn’t. This is the crux of every entrapment: when a person is told to dirty their hands, in deeds great or small, and they accept, they become part of the corruption, both by participating in it and by helping to normalize it. Their guilt then forces on them a vested interest in protecting their deed and the machine itself. It is the barbed hook that cannot be removed without pain – unless an opportunity for redemption is offered. Those who refuse to be corrupted in a corruptive setting should be strongly protected. They trust in the spirit that they are.
The Highest Crimes and Misdemeanors?
As of this writing, a reconstituted Republican party is racing to uncover the reason for the Biden family's sudden and unexplained wealth. The monies’ origins were discovered to have grave implications for the nation. They appear to somehow involve bribery in exchange for changes to U.S. foreign policy. Given that the administration’s policies are currently and uniformly weakening national security, bribery in this context is a chilling thought.
Could the decline of the nation be related to a quid pro quo with foreign persons? Could the decline be a consequence of blackmail against the Bidens by a foreign entity? Either possibility would represent an existential threat to the American people’s freedom and way of life. Are there higher “crimes and misdemeanors” than the selling of the national interest to foreign adversaries for cash?
Perhaps more alarming is that the machine itself is acting in concert to protect the Biden family from scrutiny. The “Deep State” was once defended by the New York Times for having “protected the nation” from President Trump's “worst excesses". If its meddling was for “the good of the nation" then, why is it not defending national security now? It is telling that the meddling is done selectively, and that it only seems to be done for the benefit of the machine’s vested partners. This could mean that those who control the machine have chosen to defend what could be treason against the nation.
The flurry of revelations about the Biden family’s business dealings have exposed what seem to be alliances and coordination within the machine itself. It is now known that the current leadership of the U.S. Department of Justice and the current leadership of the FBI were aware of evidence concerning the Biden family's apparent corruption. More telling is that the Biden campaign somehow learned about the evidence and it obtained CIA officials' help to discredit it.
Noted CIA officials discounted the evidence against the Bidens in an open letter, saying that it had the hallmarks of Russian disinformation. The letter was used as the basis and justification for the most aggressive censorship campaign ever conducted in the United States. The machine's media outlets censored their public reporting on the evidence and social media companies were cowed and strong-armed into suppressing public conversations about it.
As a consequence of the cover-up, American voters could not know about the alleged Biden family corruption going into the 2020 election. In the months after the election, however, word spread broadly about the evidence contained on an abandoned laptop once owned by Hunter Biden. A remarkable 79% of Americans surveyed now believe that the cover-up of the information impacted the election, though the machine’s outlets report otherwise.
The extent of the social media censorship came to light with the “Twitter Files“, an unprecedented mea culpa by a social media company. The exposé series revealed that Federal officials had direct involvement in preventing Americans from sharing and discussing news and evidence. Given that social media is the de facto “town square” for political discussions, the collusion to cover-up evidence amounts to being both the official violation of Americans’ First Amendment rights and election interference. Simply put, it appears that federal government officials directed and coerced social media companies into blocking information Americans needed to properly choose their president.
The revelations of this official meddling prompted state attorneys general to file suit against the Biden Administration to halt further censorship. A district court judge found the evidence compelling and issued a sweeping temporary injunction barring the Biden Administration from communicating with social media companies in ways that could further the censoring of Americans’ protected speech. (The Court ordered the injunction because the state attorneys general stood a good chance of winning their case at trial.)
What Most Threatens The Machine
An unchanging theme with the machine has been its open and unembarrassed hatred for former President Donald Trump. Its unrelenting attacks on him, his associates and his supporters leave no doubt that the machine sees him as a threat and that it wishes all Americans would see the president the same way. But though the machine continues to disparage the personae of Trump, it avoids having to explain why his policies are objectionable - policies that are, to his supporters, resonant and reasonable.
Absent substantive debates, it would be fair to assume that it is Trump’s polices - policies that are favorably regarding by most Americans – that are the actual threat to the machine. The machine thus seems to have divorced itself from the interests of the people. It would explain why public discussions on policy are buried and why the machine has resolved to disempower and silence Trump.
Federal Indictment #1
Two months ago, on June 13, 2023, the Biden administration's Department of Justice formally indicted President Trump on Federal crimes based on laws used to punish espionage, though the matter had nothing to do with spying. (Trump had retained his presidential records as was his right under the Presidential Records Act of 1978, but this law was ignored by DOJ prosecutors and he was charged as though he were a wayward bureaucrat. Incredibly, the disputed documents were seized in an historically unprecedented and egregiously unorthodox raid of his home in what became a internationally-televised spectacle.)
Immediately following his indictment, President Trump said
"This will go down in infamy, and Joe Biden will forever be remembered, not only the most corrupt president of the history of our country, but perhaps even more importantly, the president who together with a band of his closest thugs, misfits and Marxists tried to destroy American democracy."
"Don't forget that this persecution is being done by the same weaponized agencies that, for seven years, have been running illegal psychological warfare campaigns against the American people, much as if they were trying to destabilize a foreign nation."
“The seal is broken by what they have done. They should never have done this. This was an unwritten rule. You just don’t do this unless it’s really bad.”
President Trump told Americans that “the seal”, the unwritten rule against “going after” past presidents, was broken. This implied agreement has long been part of an “honor system” of sorts that protects the nation’s sometimes fragile and tenuous bipartisanship. It is an aspirational principle holding that the goal of American politics is to move the nation forward in unity with respect to all Americans. This sensitivity lessens the rancor of the losing party by allowing them reasonable hope for making their case at a later date.
But for the first time in American history, a sitting president has allowed the power of his office to be use against his popular opponent. This act, common in poor Third World countries, is not one that would have ever been expected in the United States, “the world’s greatest defender of democracy”. This official targeting of the former president, under the authority of the Biden Administration, shows the machine’s disregard for the prudent restraint that has been historically exercised in the use of presidential power. It demonstrates open contempt for the many tens of millions who voted for President Trump. Ultimately, it is a proof to the world that the American nation’s soul, it most valued principle of liberty, is being destroyed from within.
Federal Indictment #2
On July 27, 2023, President Trump was indicted again, but this time on matters related to the Capitol protest-turned-riot of January 6, 2021. The indictment asserts that his public statements about there being election irregularities had “interfered” with the orderly transition of power. The indictment gives no specifics on what evidence it uses to back the charges but, on its own, the indictment reads as though Trump was only being an advocate of his presidential candidacy. His First Amendment rights allow him to question the results.
One particularly problematic statement in the indictment is that Trump "spread lies that there had been outcome-determinative fraud in the election and that he had actually won" and that “these claims were false, and the defendant knew they were false," but "repeated and widely disseminated them anyway.” The statement seems to be a wild reach considering that President Trump always claimed that he won. The prosecutor must now prove Trump’s state of mind to a jury beyond all reasonable doubt. Given Trump’s ego, can it be true that he believed he lost the election?
It is also known with certainty that there were anomalies with the election of 2020. The legislatures of Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Georgia all held hearings regarding suspected election irregularities and fraud. Thousands of sworn affidavits were filed and many of the eye witnesses appeared at the hearings to testify to what they seen and heard. Given this, it would be reasonable for Trump to want to pursue prescribed constitutional remedies that provided for a “pause” of the election’s certification and a brief investigation.
The indictment also asserts that Trump was repeatedly told there was no election fraud. In a court of law, these are opinions that can be tested. Those who claim there was no fraud can be made to testify how many agents they sent in to investigate, how many man hours were expended by their agents on the investigation and how many witnesses their agents interviewed. “Expert opinions” can be found for any position, and courts routinely allow for the examination of the underlying facts in those opinions. No title or position makes an opinion unquestionable.
After the prosecutor announced this second indictment, the machine’s response was muted. Its paid pundits struggled to explain how the charges meet the expectations they had set for the audiences. Constitutional scholars eventually opined that the charges were unlikely to lead to a conviction because, even if the prosecutor managed to prove that President Trump lied about losing the election, his statements were still protected under the First Amendment.
Declarations of War Against A Political Enemy
In spite of the unprecedented nature of these indictments, neither of them should have been a surprise. President Biden said that he would have former President Trump prosecuted.
The New York Times reported that on at least one occasion Biden let his staff know that he expected action.
From the article
“The attorney general’s deliberative approach has come to frustrate Democratic allies of the White House and, at times, President Biden himself. As recently as late last year, Mr. Biden confided to his inner circle that he believed former President Donald J. Trump was a threat to democracy and should be prosecuted, according to two people familiar with his comments. And while the president has never communicated his frustrations directly to Mr. Garland, he has said privately that he wanted Mr. Garland to act less like a ponderous judge and more like a prosecutor who is willing to take decisive action over the events of Jan. 6.”
What is Attorney General Merrick Garland to think? Certainly he would have heard this.
On another occasion, during a press conference, Biden recounted a conversation he had with two G7 leaders who were unhappy with President Trump.
The reporter asked:
Reporter: “The entire genesis of that G7 conversation was tied to your predecessor who is about to launch another campaign [in 2020]. How do you reassure them... that the former president will not return, or that his political movement, which is still very strong, will not take power in the United States.”
Biden: “Oh, yeah? [laughs] Well, we just have to demonstrate that he will not take power... if he does run. I’m making sure... under legitimate efforts of... our constitution [Trump] does not become the next president again.
President Biden said that Trump “will not” and that he was “making sure”. He clearly expected that Trump would not prevail in the 2024 election.
Momentous Decisions
Prior to his federal indictments, President Trump spoke of the machine using relatively mild rhetoric that some could take as hyperbole. He frequently promised his rally-goers that he would remove unhelpful bureaucrats, saying that he would “drain the Washington, D.C. swamp”.
But after his first federal indictment, Trump began to speak more candidly. In his speech, he declared that on winning the 2024 election he will unleash Federal investigators on President Biden and his family, and that he will rout out all the operatives and functionaries who have been acting against the interests of the democratic republic.
"I will appoint a real special prosecutor to go after the most corrupt president in the history of the United States of America, Joe Biden, and the entire Biden crime family - and all others involved with the destruction of our elections, our borders, and our country itself. And when I'm re-elected I will totally obliterate the Deep State. We will obliterate the Deep State. We know who they are. I know exactly who they are."
It is a open question as to how this confrontation will ultimately play out. Will president Trump survive the 2024 presidential campaign, or will he go the way of past unfortunate presidential candidates? Will the more reluctant servants of the machine break free and flee to their amnesty as whistleblowers, or will they stay with the cabal in hope that things work out for them?
Fear is a very strong container of the truth, but it can be made a very porous vessel. Trump offered redemption for the complicit with his announcement of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to be launched on his first day in office. His stated goal is simple transparency.
There will be of course those who will not stand down from their role. So it must be that the 2024 election will go down in history as the most interfered-with election in American history.
These indictments of President Trump are only the latest unprecedented blows against him in the gauntlet that has been set up for him going into the 2024 campaign. Several district attorneys have publicly announced the possibility that state felony charges will be filed against Trump depending on the outcome or timing of the federal cases.
What The People Will Be Told
A race is now under way to determine what information will be presented to the American people. The Biden administration, the Biden campaign, and the machine are united in characterizing President Trump as an unelectable danger to the nation and as the leader of tens of millions of “deluded”, “racist” and “transphobic” supporters. The Biden campaign will continue to champion open-border immigration, sexual activism, increased social spending, immunity for crimes committed by ethnic minorities, climate change projects and the fight against “white supremacy” and conservative and religious “extremism”.
For its part, the reconstituted Republican party will continue its work to uncover and share information that speaks to the extent to which President Biden has been comprised by foreign nations and foreign actors, and how Executive Branch leadership have “weaponized” Federal law enforcement to attack dissidents and abet in the cover-up of crimes. This “America First” party is clearly the underdog. Its representation in the House of Representatives holds the least amount of power it can have while still being effective. It may be enough, though, if there are few “Judases” among its leadership.
Even if the investigations are successful, Congress can only advise the American people of what they have discovered. Can corporate news media be expected to share their findings fairly? Will enough Americans see the news on independent outlets?
What of those who sit at the machine’s highest echelons of power?
They understand that “acquisitions” and “leveraged buy-outs” can be messy. Ultimately, they only care that they obtain full ownership of America nation. It’s not clear that it will be given to them, though. Everything will depend on the results of the 2024 election.
Everything.
